Conclusion of the Perek

  • Embarrassed because of a sin
  • Balak in Kerias Shema
  • Burdening the Congregation
  • Stopping in the wrong place

Tefillah Halachos
  • Bowing Down
  • Aseres Yemei Teshuvah
  • Choleh

Mistake in Brochos

Will there be a mitzvah of mentioning yetzias mitzrayim in the days of Mashiach?

Yetzias Mitzrayim at night and l'ymos haMashiach

  • That is why the one verse in Parashas Balak could not be incorporated into part of Kerias Shema.
  • Reb yaakov Kaminetzky states that this rule is only applicable by Torah; not by mitzvos.
  • Accordingly, this would prove that the mitzvah of shema is to recite a portion of Torah in the morning and in the evening.

  • Embarrassed about the aveirah; not about getting caught
  • Wanting to daven, but being unable to concentrate
  • Chasam Sofer on davening for a talmid chacham
  • Something unavoidable preventing one from fulfilling a mitzvah

  • How and when to bow down
  • Davening for others
  • Embarrassed of his sin

Timtum Haleiv

Chazal say that forbidden foods may lead to timtum haleiv. We discussed the following:

  • Does this apply even if permission is granted (i.e. sick person, wartime)?
  • What types of foods are included (perhaps only those things that are intrinsically forbidden, but not neveilah)?
  • How careful should one be about medicine?
